Balls’ bets. Atletico Madrid – Clüb Brügge

Balls’ Bets, Wednesday 3rd October 2018

Result: 3-1, Atletico Madrid win.

Atletico Madrid home at legendary Vicente Calderon against a Belgium team, who doesn’t have much experience in Europe. How can that not be a victory for Atletico Madrid? Club Brügge have a great history, but they are not a team who should cause “El cholo” and his solid Madrid team any problems. Brügge are in great form in the league at home where they haven’t lost in the first nine games, but to be fair – the teams are of a different caliber in the Belgian league then what they are facing on Wednesday. Brügge lost at home to Dortmund in the first round of the Champions league, without scoring and I don’t believe that they will get a goal against Atletico Madrid either. Not many teams are as solid defensively as Atletico Madrid and that will show on Wednesday.

Balls’ Bets 1: v

Atletico Madrid will win.

There should be a big difference between these two teams, when speaking of quality in general. Atletico Madrid are playing teams like FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Valencia – Club Brügge are playing teams like Lokeren, Gent and Anderlecht. Many of these Belgian teams have great history and they should be respected, but the quality in Belgium are just not on the same level as the quality in Spain. Club Brügge will try to make their fans proud on Wednesday, but they will lose against a strong Madrid side.

Balls’ Bets 2: x

Only one team will score.

Club Brügge have absolutely no problems in front of goal in the Belgian league, but in Champions league, they are struggling. They didn’t get a goal against Dortmund at home and on Wednesday they are playing one of the best defenses in the world. I don’t think they will get the desired goal against Atletico Madrid either. I just can’t see a player from Clüb Brügge, who have the quality to overpower the spanish defense. These bets are always tricky, but this time I’m willing to take the chance.
